Doctor Danny Mitry is an expert ophthalmologist with a special interest in vitreoretinal disease, medical retina, and cataracts. Having trained in London, he has completed advanced retinal training at Moorfields Eye Hospital. He was awarded a Ph.D. in retinal detachment and has published extensively in the field of retinal disease.
Dr. Danny Mitry graduated with honors from Trinity College Dublin and began his clinical training at the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital in Dublin before moving to Scotland to do his PhD at the University of Edinburgh. His doctoral thesis focused on a study of the epidemiological, clinical, and genetic associations of retinal detachment. Dr. Mitry completed his postgraduate training in surgery in London and was appointed Vitreoretinal Fellow at Moorfields Eye Hospital.

Dr. Mitry has performed thousands of cataract, vitreoretinal, and laser procedures. His personal complication rate is below the national average and he is hailed by many of his colleagues and patients as a confident, diligent, and caring surgeon.
Dr. Mitry has published more than 40 peer-reviewed manuscripts in leading international ophthalmology journals, including Ophthalmology, IOVS, Archives of Ophthalmology, and Retina, and has been a reviewer for many of these journals. He has successfully received several major research grants in support of his academic research and has been invited speaker at international ophthalmic conferences receiving numerous research awards for his work.
Dr. Mitry continues to conduct clinical research and plays an active role in the surgical training of junior interns.
