Professor Vladimir Bobić is a Consultant Orthopedic Knee Surgeon and the founder of Chester Knee Clinic and Cartilage Repair Centre, Chester, UK. He has extensive experience in all aspects of knee surgery, including arthroscopic surgery, ligament reconstruction and knee arthroplasty. He specializes in articular cartilage repair by various advanced technologies. He has contributed to 27 publications and research papers.
Professor Bobic became a consultant knee orthopaedics at Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospital in 1996. In the same year, he founded Chester Knee Clinic & Cartilage Repair centre which is recognized as an international society of surgeons approved teaching centre.
Professor Bobić is the inventor and instrument designer of Arthrex OATS (Osteochondral Autograft Transfer System) articular cartilage repair technology. He performed the first ACI (Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation) in the North West of England in 1998 and continues to perform a wide range of cartilage repair procedures in Chester.
His clinical and surgical practice includes all recent articular cartilage repair technologies like subchondral drilling, OATS (autologous osteochondral grafting), ACI (autologous chondrocyte implantation) and autologous stem cell-based therapies.
Professor Bobić has six years of experience with using autologous bone marrow aspirate in combination with deep subchondral drilling and autologous osteochondral grafting (OATS) for the treatment of mild to moderate distal femoral osteoarthritis.
He organised the first regional seminar on the use of Autologous Stem Cell Therapies in Orthopaedics which was held in Chester in June 2013.
