Professor Frank Martetschläger is a leading partner at the German Center for Shoulder Surgery (Deutsches Schulterzentrum) at the ATOS Clinic in Munich. He specializes in disorders and complex problems of the shoulder and elbow. Prior to working at the German Center for Shoulder Surgery, he worked at the Department of Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at the Technical University of Munich as a board-certified specialist for orthopaedics and trauma surgery. He is also a fellowship-trained shoulder specialist graduating from the world-renown Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado, USA.
Prof. Dr Frank Martetschläger graduated in 2005 from Julius-Maximilians University Würzburg and started his residency in Orthopaedic and Trauma Center, University Clinic Mannheim, German, in 2006.
In 2008, he became Assistant Physician at ATOS Clinic Heidelberg Department of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, and in 2011, he became a resident at the Clinic for Trauma Surgery at Rechts der Isar clinic, Technical University München, Germany.
In 2012 he became International Shoulder Fellow at the world-renown Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado, USA. In 2013 he became a Specialist physician appointment as a “Specialist in Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery” awarded by the Bavarian State Medical Association, he also became a Director of education and students teaching at the Department of Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, Technical University of Munich.
Since 2015 he is a leading partner and specialist physician at German Shoulder Centre, ATOS Clinic Munich, Germany, also, he serves as vice-chairman of the “Shoulder Instability Committee for the German Speaking Society for Arthroscopy and Joint Surgery (AGA), vice chairman of the “Committee for Guidelines and Assessment” for the German Shoulder and Elbow Society (DVSE) and scientific chairman for the European Shoulder Associates (ESA-ESSKA).
He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed scientific articles, numerous book chapters and one book on Shoulder Surgery. His academic work has been recognized with awards from several societies.
