Doctor Ioanna Nixon is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Center, Lead for the Scottish Sarcoma Network and Visiting Professor at Strathclyde University, Glasgow, UK. She cares for people with Head and Neck Cancers and Sarcomas. She is devoted to offering patients the best personalised and person-centred treatment to ensure best outcomes and quality of life.
She holds a PhD in Radiotherapy since 2013, Masters degree in public health (MPH) in 2015 and recently graduated from the Scottish Quality and Safety (SQS) Fellowship. She has a leading role in research as the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Chair for Head and Neck epidemiology and survivorship subgroup. She is a member of the New Drugs Committee and also board member of the British Sarcoma Group and Cancer Throat Foundation Trust.
Professor Nixon has been awarded for her contribution in patient care with a Faculty of Management and Leadership (FMLM) Fellowship. She lectures on compassion and resilience and facilitates compassion and resilience workshops for patients, carers and healthcare professionals.
Professor Nixon's team is finalist for the National British Medical Journal (BMJ) awards under cancer team 2020 and Healthcare Services Laboratories (HSL) Partnership Awards 2021.
She is as well, Reviewer for grant applications on head and neck cancers through the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) and Mentor at the Scottish improvement Leader Program. She has been chosen as the President for the British Sarcoma Group Conference of 2020.
