Professor Andrés J. M. Ferreri is currently the Deputy Director of the Hematology-Oncology Department, Director of the Lymphoma Unit at the San Raffaele Scientific Institute, and President of the Italian Lymphoma Foundation (Fondazione Italiana Linfomi) which is devoted to clinical studies in lymphoma management. Dr. Ferreri is particularly interested and conducted numerous studies in lymphomas and lymphomas treatment.
Prof. Ferreri is an Italian physician who obtained 2 Medicine and Surgery degrees and 2 Oncology Specialization degrees in both Italy and Argentina. His scientific skills include laboratory, and clinical research studies on lymphomas at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele, where he is the head of the Lymphoma Unit and Contract Professor of Oncology at Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele.
Professor Ferreri is currently the head of the Lymphoma Unit at IRCCS San Raffaele University Hospital where he also works as a contract professor of Hematology. The IRCCS title is granted by the Italian Department of Health to only a limited number of institutes throughout the nation according to both the quality of patient care and the innovation skills provided by them.
Through the countless studies he conducted and participated in addressing tumor causes as therapeutic targets, particularly in the field of lymphomas, he has worked to define some of the treatment guidelines applied in all countries. One of his studies had the merit of demonstrating an association between orbital lymphoma and a type of bacterial infection, leading to the use of antibiotics instead of conventional therapies.
He is a member and founder of a large number of prestigious and high-caliber international scientific societies and associations including but not limited to the International Extra-nodal Lymphoma Study Group, the Italian Lymphoma Foundation, and the European School of Oncology. He is the author of numerous scientific articles and chapters of books in English, Italian, and Spanish.
