Dr. Rajeswaran is a consultant physician in Diabetes, Obesity, and Endocrinology and currently leads a large multidisciplinary specialist weight management service in West Yorkshire and is the medical advisor for weight management service in Essex. His specialist interest includes complex severe obesity and diabetes. He founded the National Diabesity Forum and is the Editor-in-Chief of Diabesity in Practice Journal. He is highly experienced in providing pre and post-operative care for people having all forms of bariatric surgery.
Dr. Rajeswaran completed his undergraduate medical education and training at St. James’s University Hospital, Leeds, Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield, Dewsbury District Hospital, and Leeds General Infirmary. He currently works in Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust and in private hospitals in the UK. He also advises NHS primary care team on diabetes and weight management. He works in several hospitals in the UK, including the reputed ‘The London Obesity Clinic’ . He has his private endocrine and weight loss clinics at simplyweight, Bradford, Nuffield hospital, Leeds and Claremont Hospital, Sheffield.
He has vast experience in the management of complex diabetes, endocrine disorders, and obesity. He has worked for more than 20 years in the NHS. He has been instrumental in setting up several specialist weight management centers in the UK and abroad.
He has a number of publications and presentations to his credit. He is also involved in obesity-related research and has supervised Ph.D. students. Dr. Rajeswaran has a research interest in weight management and diabetes, resulting in numerous journal publications. He has been involved in several national and international multi-centered trials and is currently involved in a National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) funded project called MotiVar: Motivating weight loss through a personalized avatar.
He is an international speaker and has authored books and book chapters related to obesity. He founded and chaired the National Diabesity Forum in 2008. National Diabesity Forum provides a network for healthcare professionals involved in the management of Diabesity. The aim of this forum is to share best practices in the management of Diabesity. He is also the editor-in-chief of a popular medical journal ‘Diabesity in Practice’
Dr Chinnadorai Rajeswaran is also involved in the regular education of General Practitioners, diabetes specialist nurses, practice nurses, specialist registrars, and medical students in the field of weight management, endocrinology, and diabetes. He has been a Foundation Training Programme Director and also Honorary Lecturer at the University of Leeds.
