Dr. Claridge graduated from University College London Medical School, London, UK, in 1996. Then in 2001, he became Member of the Royal College of Surgeons in the UK. After completing a higher degree in markers of vascular disease, he trained in vascular and endovascular surgery during specialist surgical training, until he became Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2009.
Dr. Claridge trained exclusively in vascular surgery with periods of dedicated training in endovascular surgery in both the UK and Australia together with the award of a doctorate in vascular surgery from Birmingham University, UK.
Then he completed a year of further specialised training in endovascular (keyhole) surgery in Queensland, Australia, gaining expertise in endovascular aneurysm repair and percutaneous management of peripheral arterial disease using angioplasty and stenting.
He was awarded a travelling fellowship from the Circulation Foundation in the UK, in recognition of this extra training that was not available in the UK and won the Atrium Prize from the Australian Society for Vascular Surgery during his time in Australia as a best trainee.
Now he is a leading vascular surgeon in Birmingham who is a knowledgeable and approachable expert in keyhole procedures for varicose veins and venous disease.
In 2011, Dr. Claridge was appointed as Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital and became the Clinical Director of the major UK vascular unit in 2015. He is also the Educational Lead for Vascular Surgery in the West Midlands with special experience in minimally invasive endovascular techniques, including foam sclerotherapy, radiofrequency ablation, and microsclerotherapy.
Dr. Claridge is an internationally recognised expert in the treatment of patients with vascular diseases using both traditional open vascular surgery and endovascular surgery as well as offering a full range of treatment options to the patient.
