Dr Kaukab is currently a Consultant Paediatric Audiology Physician at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), London, UK. She is also the Clinical Coordinator and the Lead Clinician in the cochlear implant program at GOSH, which is one of the largest pediatric cochlear implant programs in the UK. Dr Rajput has published 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Doctor Kaukab graduated from University of Sindh in 1982 after which she recieved the Licentiate of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and the Licentiate of the Royal College Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
She then completed her training in ear, nose and throat surgery and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in 1992. She underwent a training post at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital, in audiovestibular medicine initially as a registrar and then senior registrar in audiological medicine. She then obtained Master of Science in Audiological Medicine in 1995 and became a consultant in 1999.
Doctor Kaukab Rajput is an expert in diagnosis of hearing loss in children with complex problems. Her main responsibilities involve diagnosing and managing hearing loss in very young children and adolescents. She also consults high risk children and monitors their hearing. She has a special interest in auditory neuropathy as well as ototoxicity and prevention of hearing loss in children on ototoxic drugs.
Doctor Rajput is the clinical co-ordinator and lead clinician in the cochlear implant program in Great Ormond Street Hospital, one of the largest paediatric cochlear implant programs in the UK, which has a team of 21 people from a multi-disciplinary background.
Doctor Rajput has contributed to 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals. Her main research area is cochlear implantation in children as well as prevention of acquired hearing loss such as meningitis and ototoxicity. She was involved in cutting edge research published in Lancet and New England Journal of Medicine. She has a special interest in innovative and novel therapies.
