Prof. Francesco Sanguedolce, a distinguished figure in the field of urology, holds prominent positions and makes significant contributions to both academia and clinical practice. Since February 2021, Prof. Sanguedolce has served as an Associate Professor of Urology at the Universitá degli Studi di Sassari, Italy, where he delivers lectures to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, while also undertaking the responsibility of designing studies and developing educational projects. Concurrently, since January 2017, he has held the position of Consultant Urological Surgeon at a private practice with a special interest in prostate cancer. In this role, he performs laparoscopic and endourological surgeries for urological cancers, with a particular focus on prostate cancer. His responsibilities include conducting transperineal MR-US fusion targeted biopsies, administering prostate cryotherapy, conducting laparoscopic prostatectomies, and managing systemic treatments for metastatic prostate cancer.
Prior to these roles, Prof. Sanguedolce gained extensive experience extending for more than 20 years through various positions. From March 2015 to January 2017, he served as a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Northampton General Hospital, focusing on upper tract laparoscopy and endourology. Before that, he held a consultant position at Southmead Hospital, North Bristol NHS Trust, where he continued to specialize in laparoscopic surgery and core urology. He further honed his skills through fellowships, including one in upper urinary tract laparoscopy at Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in London and another in lower urinary tract laparoscopy at various hospitals in London, UK.
His academic journey has been illustrious, with notable achievements such as obtaining a PhD in Nephrological and Uro-Andrological Sciences from the University of Bologna and being recognized as a Fellow of the European Board of Urology. His commitment to continuous learning is evident through additional qualifications such as a Master's in "Ultrasounds in Urology" from the University of Perugia and various fellowships in specialized areas of urology across Europe.
Aside from his clinical and academic roles, Prof. Sanguedolce has been extensively involved in organizational and technical capacities within the urological community.
