Following this, he undertook advanced fellowship training in Neuro-otology and cochlear implant surgery at the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital and the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Melbourne, Australia.
Doctor Monksfield has been a consultant ENT surgeon at the University Hospitals Birmingham since 2010 and performs all aspects of ear surgery. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He is a clinical supervisor for higher surgical trainees and he performs regular teaching sessions for medical students and teaches several post-graduate courses.
Doctor Monksfield has a strong research interest and runs several research studies on implanted hearing devices. He regularly lectures both locally and globally and has written many peer-reviewed papers.
